Widnes Transmission Line Surveys
Survey evidence that supported a clearer, safer planning approach around the 400kV line.
Bloor Homes needed topographic and swing clearance surveys for a Widnes development crossed by a 400kV transmission line. LDT delivered the survey evidence required to plan safe working clearances and support a compliant planning submission.
Challenge
A 400kV transmission line runs through the Widnes development site, so layout, planning, and construction all depended on accurate clearance and topographic data.
Bloor Homes needed survey outputs that could feed design and planning directly—without repeated rework or ambiguous assumptions around the corridor.
What we did
We delivered topographic and swing clearance survey packages aligned to the decisions required for planning and engineering design.
Quality checks were embedded so outputs remained consistent and traceable for downstream use.
Results
Survey evidence that supported a clearer, safer planning approach around the 400kV line.
Comprehensive survey data for design and planning teams to use directly.
Stronger confidence in technical assumptions for later engineering work.
