Warrington - Swing Clearance

A defined safe working envelope for the lifting operation.

Portakabin needed to lift and install a modular office block beside a 132kV overhead line on the Ingevity site in Warrington. LDT carried out a swing clearance survey to GS6 and ENA TS 43-8 so safe working distances for the lift were established before the operation proceeded.

Challenge

A 132kV overhead line runs along the site’s northern border, next to the planned lift zone for a modular office install.

Without proven clearances, the lift risked delay, unsafe working distances, or last-minute redesign of the installation plan on an operational industrial site.

What we did

We surveyed the overhead line and produced swing clearance outputs for the lift operation.

Deliverables were formatted for client and contractor review against HSE GS6 and ENA TS 43-8 clearance guidance.

Results

A defined safe working envelope for the lifting operation.

A shared technical basis for Portakabin, the client, and site teams.

Reduced programme risk from unclear overhead line interfaces.
